Consider the community
In this case, there are plenty of options to choose from. From buying or renting a single-family home in a traditional neighborhood, a single-family or duplex in a 50+ community to buying or renting a home or apartment in a gated community, or a house or a condo in a retirement community, you will definitely not suffer from a shortage of offers.
Just keep in mind that in some places you might need to do the maintenance work on your own and everything else that involves upkeeping a single-family home, such as mowing the lawn and the like. If such activities are not a problem for you, maybe the idea of living in an apartment that’s 7 inches away from your neighbors, is not to your liking.
