SSDI beneficiaries may be subject to further investigation
According to a recent proposal made by President Trump, Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) recipients might need to provide extra information to substantiate their application for disability benefits. More precisely, apart from the already existing Social Security evaluation categories Medical Improvement Expected (MIE), Medical Improvement Possible (MIP), and Medical Improvement Not Expected (MINE), a new category would be added to the disability evaluation classes, called “Medical Improvement Likely”. This category would require applicants to go through a medical review every two years.
Instead of improving and simplifying the system, this change could affect as many as 4.4 million people, many of whom might lose all their benefits.
