Most Important Financial Benefits For Retirees Offered By Each State

Wisconsin

– Social Security benefits are not taxed; residents aged 65 and older receive up to $5,000 exemption for retirement plan income with federal adjusted gross income under $15,000, or $30,000 for married couples

– No tuition for auditing classes at University of Wisconsin System campuses for residents 60 and older

– 50% off on Madison’s Metro Transit and discounts on Milwaukee’s transit system for residents aged 65 and over

– $13 annual parking sticker for state parks for seniors aged 65 and over

– $7 general fishing license

Wyoming

– There’s no state income tax

– Tuition exemptions at the University of Wyoming for residents aged 65 and older

– Seniors aged 65 and over living in Wyoming for minimum 30 years get free Pioneer Fishing, Bird and Conservation Stamp License

– Public transport services provided by various senior centers, generally by donation; 50% discount for fixed-route bus services for anyone with a Medicare card.
