8. Continuing Care at Home (CCaH) Programs
Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) are famous for offering a continuum of care on one campus—from independent living to skilled nursing. However, these facilities require massive upfront entrance fees. A newer alternative is the Continuing Care at Home (CCaH) model.
With CCaH, you pay an upfront membership fee and a monthly premium, much like a traditional CCRC. The difference is that you stay in your own home. The program assigns you a dedicated care coordinator. If you are healthy, the coordinator organizes wellness programs and annual home safety inspections. If your health declines, the program pays for and coordinates home aides, physical therapy, or even a transition to a skilled nursing facility if remaining at home becomes impossible. It functions as a hybrid between long-term care insurance and a personalized healthcare concierge.
