23. Medicare premiums will probably be taken out of your Social Security checks

Thanks to Medicare Part B, your Social Security might be a little lower than expected. That’s because premiums for this coverage are paid directly from those funds. If both your cost of living and Medicare premiums go up, your Social Security raise won’t add up to much. When you check your account and the numbers don’t add up, this might be why.

On the other hand, if Medicare premiums get higher than your checks increase, you’ll be protected thanks to holding harmless provisions.
