7. It can be hard to undo a claim for Social Security benefits

If you’ve made a mistake you could still undo it! Firstly, you can retract your claim less than a year ago but you’ll also have to pay back all the money you’ve already received. According to most Americans who have already started this process, that’s the most difficult part.

For those who have claimed after their FRA you do have the option of suspending your benefits, so there’s still a chance you could get delayed retirement credits if that’s what you’re after.

Sadly, these are the only two options in which you can stop claiming your Social Security. That’s why it’s so important for you to be 100% sure of your decision.
