We Found The Best 20 Neighborhoods for Retirees

April 24, 2019 · Retirement Life

3. Forest Hills — New York

Though Forest Hills is an exclusive, planned garden city in Queens, you don’t have to pay as much as $825,000 to live there (the median list price in New York City as a whole). Instead, you can settle down with as little as $495,000.

In addition to relatively affordable housing, you’ll also find great restaurants and entertainment value in this neighborhood. This all makes sense since Forest Hills has scored a 74 on the livability scale.

Here, the percentage of residents over the age of 65 is 18.7%. Seniors can either enjoy talking a walk though the Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, home to the Unisphere or Forest Park. A fan of reading? Why not visit one of the two Queens Public Library branches?
