We’re all familiar with a little bit of office banter, right? Offhand comments and lighthearted teasing happen all the time, and isolated incidents are nothing to get worried over. But if these incidents happen more and more often and often feel malicious, you should not turn a blind eye to them.

If your boss makes you feel uncomfortable about your age and allows other coworkers to join in the ‘teasing’, then you’re probably a part of a hostile work environment which- surprise, surprise!- is illegal.

As we grow older, it’s important to separate light banter from truly harmful comments. Knowing your rights is the first step in addressing the issue.
