Dining Out: Restaurant Reductions
Socializing over a meal is a vital part of staying connected in retirement. Many national restaurant chains offer unadvertised menus or straight percentage discounts to help keep dining out affordable.
13. Outback Steakhouse
Enjoying a steak dinner does not have to ruin your monthly dining budget. Outback Steakhouse offers a flat 10% discount off your entire check—excluding alcohol, taxes, and gratuity—every day of the week. This discount requires an active AARP membership card, which you must show to your server before they run your final bill. The same 10% discount also applies to their sister restaurants, including Bonefish Grill and Carrabba’s Italian Grill.
14. Denny’s
Denny’s is well known for its dedicated “55+ Menu,” which offers smaller portion sizes of their classic meals at significantly reduced prices. If you prefer to order from the regular menu, AARP members can simply show their membership card to receive 15% off their entire bill at participating locations. This dual approach allows you to choose whether you want a smaller, cheaper meal or a discounted full-size portion.
15. El Pollo Loco
Fast-casual dining also caters to older demographics. El Pollo Loco offers a 10% discount (up to a maximum value of $1) for customers aged 60 and older. While a single dollar might not seem monumental, consistent application of small discounts on regular fast-casual lunches effectively combats the rising costs of inflation.
