My kids will take care of me

With the market in the state that it is, it’s almost impossible to rely on your kids when it comes to retirement. They’ll have their own worries, planning, and savings to figure out. Chances are they won’t be able to support you and your spouse on top of their own families. 

Still think it’s attainable? Consider this, then. A millennial’s net worth was 40% less than a Gen Xer in 2001. How much money do you think they’ll be able to contribute to your retirement?
