While hiking is a great way to stay active and stay in touch with nature, it should be a stepping stone to a healthier lifestyle. As suggested by the National Institute on Aging, you should consider various ways to keep active. You don’t have to go overboard, you could start by adding more activities gradually. For example, add a few more minutes to your daily walk or start lifting a few weights here and there.

Water aerobics and tai chi are especially popular among seniors. And hey, you never know! You could meet your next friend during one of these classes.

But your main focus should be your physical health. Make sure to improve your balance, flexibility, endurance, and strength every single day.
