10 Best States for Retirees to Settle Down

January 8, 2020 · Retirement Life

6. Kentucky

Taxes, taxes, taxes! A headache to think about when moving. Kentucky makes it all easy and affordable. First of all, you won’t pay any on Social Security Benefits. If you earn less than $31,110 per year then you also won’t have to worry about taxes on your 401(k), pension or IRA. When you step over that threshold, there’s only a 5% rate, and that’s flat.

What about sales tax? Well, it’s not only low, sitting at 6%, but you’ll be even happier when you find out that prescription drugs are also sold tax-free here. That’s one less worry for you when it comes to healthcare costs.

You might be surprised by the next state, but we have a mountain of reasons to recommend it…..
