14 Things To Sell When You’re Ready To Retire

  • Your home – One of the most important things you need to figure out when you plan to retire is where you want to live. Naturally, this might include even selling your home, which for many people is their most valuable asset.
  • Work clothes – When you don’t work anymore, you no longer need that special equipment you had for so many years or the business attire you used for so long. Keep one or two suits for weddings and other occasions and sell the rest.
  • Exercise equipment – If you decide to downsize your home, you won’t have enough space for exercise equipment. Consider selling your treadmill or that stationary bike and instead, try yoga or daily walks in the park.
  • Your car – If you’ve finished paying off your car, you still have to invest money in it. Gas, insurance, maintenance, and repairs, they’re all needed. If you don’t use it as much, consider selling it.
  • Furniture – If you’ve decided to move to a smaller place, you don’t need all that bulky furniture you had for so many years. There won’t be any room for it! You can easily get rid of it by selling all of it on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, or even at a consignment shop.
  • Decorative items – Holiday decorations are nice to have in your home, except for when they’re too many. Try organizing a yard sale to get rid of all those decor items you’re never gonna use again!

We decided that our crystal and china collections were just taking up space and not being used so we offered to our kids to go ahead and take it and use it! I would rather see them enjoying it now while they are young adults and not wait until we are gone!
