10 Best Spots in the U.S. to Spend Your Retirement Years

March 18, 2020 · Retirement Life

Sarasota, Florida

Another city in the Sunshine State worth retiring to is Sarasota. The city’s white sandy beaches are among the most gorgeous and popular in the state of Florida, with exotic palm trees and agreeable winter weather that complete this idyllic, retirement picture. 38 percent of the population aged 60 and older definitely thought so!

With an average year-round temperature of 73’ and 251 sunny days per year, Sarasota is the perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts who want to try kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding through the natural mangroves. If you’re the relaxed type, you can always rent or charter a boat and explore the local islands.

Know as Florida’s “Cultural City”, Sarasota offers its residents an active scene of cultural events such as the annual film festival, improv festival and chalk festival. In addition, reasonable housing and health care costs also allow those on a fixed income to enjoy a Florida beach retirement.
