Fort Myers, Florida

Those who want to spend their golden years fishing, boating or simply enjoying the beach will love it here. Add to that mild winter weather and affordable living costs and you’ve got the perfect retirement destination. Not to mention more than a quarter of the population are 60 and over, who have already decided to spend their retirement years in this city with a relaxed atmosphere and slow pace of life.

The icing on the cake: Florida does not have a state income tax, which means you get to keep most of what you earn, should you decide to keep working in retirement.
