Survivor’s benefits for children

Apart from spouses, children are also entitled to receive survivor’s benefits based on the deceased parent’s record. The maximum age children can receive survivor’s benefits is 18, or 19 if they have full-time classes in elementary or secondary school. In case the child becomes disabled and remains incapable of self-support before age 22, he/she remains eligible for survivor’s benefits.

Depending on the situation, survivor’s benefits can also extend to grandchildren and stepchildren.
