6 States That Are Perfect for Healthy and Active Seniors

2. Utah

Folks in Utah know how to drink responsibly- here only 3.4% of people over the age of 65 indulge in alcohol more than they should. The Beehive State also has the lowest prevalence of preventable hospitalizations with only 27.9 discharges per 1,000 Medicare enrollees. Though 14.1% hospital deaths may sound like a frightening percentage, it’s also the lowest in the nation, which is definitely something to keep in mind.

Seniors in Utah may also attribute their good health to the fact that they remain active. In fact, they’re known for high levels of volunteerism.

On the other hand, you should know that the state is severely lacking in geriatric doctors. As many as 77.5% are needed in the Friendly State.
