Though most of us would gladly pick our retirement destination based on the weather, entertainment value and breathtaking views, the truth is our budget should be at the top of our priority list. 

Every state has something to offer for everyone and some cities or towns, in particular, can be very affordable. On the flip side, there are some places that will dig into your savings faster than you know it. We’re not saying you should steer clear, but here are some things to keep in mind before packing your bags. 

So, we’ve done the research for you. Here are 30 destinations that you could cross off your list if staying within budget is a priority. We’ve looked at taxes as well as living expenses and home values. Put them all together and it should give you a pretty solid idea of whether or not you can afford to live there during your golden years.
