Don’t Keep Up With the Joneses

Plenty of us feel a need to keep up with our family, friends and neighbours. It’s very difficult to save up money when you see the people that surround you buying whatever they like and going on expensive vacations whenever they like. Those sort of feelings won’t help you save money. In fact, they’ll make you jeopardize your retirement.

What you’re basically experiencing is the fear of missing out, better known as FOMO. You might want to also indulge because it seems ‘unfair’ that you don’t get to have all those nice things.

Surrounding yourself with people with the same values as you will help take the pressure off. Prioritize savings and don’t spend money just because others are!
