14 Ways to Make Your Money Last in Retirement

13. Set Boundaries with the Kids

This might be the most difficult step yet, but you probably need to hear this. If your adult children still rely on you for various expenses, it’s time to set some ground rules. Cutting off money doesn’t have to be immediate and it’s better to work on a plan with them instead of dropping the news out of the blue.

You could also look for other ways to help them that don’t involve giving them any cash such as helping out with the grandkids, adding them to your health insurance plan or cellphone plan.

Helping them become financially independent will help set them up for further success too, so really, you’ll be doing them a solid!
