10 Most Common Questions About Drafting a Will

March 4, 2020 · Personal finance

Who should I name as my executor?

In terms of executors, you’ll have a little more freedom. You should ensure that whoever you name is a trusted friend or relative. More often than not, people appoint either spouses, adult children or individuals with legal and financial expertise. Alternatively, you could even name joint executors, like your partner and attorney.

You should also entrust your executor to take care of your bills or any potential debt collectors. This is also an area of your will that should be worded very carefully, as you want to both give your executor the ability to take care of payments and other issues that you haven’t outlined in your will.
