Lincoln, Neb., is the capital city of the Cornhusker State and it is located in one of the country’s biggest counties. The median price for a one-bedroom home in this cozy city is $810, $300 more expensive than the cheapest city on our list but still cheaper than other major cities in the U.S. Compared to its other fellow cities on this list, Lincoln has a higher safety score and accommodates approximately 12.1 percent senior citizens.
