Do’s and Don’ts

Sherin advises people to protect their assets by not responding to these threats. As she says, any kind of response, even a request to “take you off the call list” is considered to be a good time to get your attention and convince you that there’s a problem.

You can easily hang up on a suspicious phone call! Also, it’s even more dangerous when it comes to unverified links, as it might download malicious software, like ransomware, spyware, or a computer virus.

It’s highly important not to provide any personal information! Unless you have previously talked to the caller, don’t be quick into providing any personal info!… Even when it comes to the last four digits of your SSN.

Also, it’s best to verify the caller. You can always ask for a name and a phone number and then verify them at the SSA number.

Bottom line? Be sure to read the fine print on any email documents you receive and be careful of any suspicious calls. Did you find this article helpful?
