Located on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay, the city of Easton abounds in history, courtesy and elder residents. This small town hosts an interesting array of restaurants, boutique shops, art galleries and other cultural attractions. As a matter of fact, as of July 2019, Easton is one of two new Arts and Entertainment Districts in Maryland, providing tax incentives to local artists and businesses, along with the 26 existing Districts in the state.

Local artists can benefit from an income tax deduction for all their creations made and sold within the 110-acre district. Moreover, any artistic changes made to their building by developers and organizations are subject to a property tax reduction.

This is a perfect opportunity to save some more money. That’s because the living expenses in Easton are 13.8% above the national average. This makes Easton more affordable than Annapolis, on the opposite shore of the bay, where living expenses exceed the national average by 41%.

And retirees in love with water and water sports still have access to the same torrent of activities, such as kayaking, canoeing, boating and fishing, common on the Chesapeake Bay.
