France

Although France isn’t the exact destination we’d think of as a cheap retirement option, several small towns are extremely affordable. For example, the city of Pau, which is located near the Spanish border, has mild winters and summers, and a one-bedroom apartment in the center of the city rents out for $531 a month.

A good dinner for two usually costs around $53, according to Numbeo. Also, Montpellier is an extremely affordable city. Renting a one-bedroom flat there will cost between $500 and $700 monthly. France doesn’t have any special visa for seniors, so what you need to do is to apply for a long-term visa at a French consulate in the U.S.
