Most Important Financial Benefits For Retirees Offered By Each State

Nevada

– There’s no state income tax

– Access to state parks, camping, and boat launching for $30 fee annual permit for citizens 65 and older

– Discounted hunting/fishing license for residents 65 and older

– Lower prices for Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada buses for residents 60 and older

New Hampshire

– Only dividend and interest income is taxed

– Free state park entry for residents 65 and older

– Reduced fee for hunting and fishing licenses for residents 68 and older

– Residents aged 65 and older get tuition exemptions for a maximum of two for-credit courses per academic year at the University of New Hampshire

– Rides at half-price on Cooperative Alliance for Seacoast Transportation buses, Manchester Transit Authority buses, and Concord trolleys and buses for residents 65 and older

New Jersey

– Social Security income is not taxed; significant exemptions on other retirement income if it’s $100,000 or less for residents 62 and older

– Tuition exemptions at public colleges for seniors 65 and more; free audit classes in the spring and fall at Rutgers

– 50 percent discount on all public transit throughout the state for residents 62 and older

– Free access and parking at any park forest, beach, or historic site, and $2 exemption for camping applied to residents 62 and older

– Lower license fees for fishing and clamming for senior citizens ages 65 to 69; no fee or stamps required for seniors 70 and older; discounted hunting license fees for retirees 65 and older
