Most Important Financial Benefits For Retirees Offered By Each State

Missouri

– Tuition waiver at all state institutions for retirees 65 and older

– Significant discounts for residents aged 60 to 64 or no fee for residents aged 65 and older for lifetime hunting and fishing permit

– $2 discount on camping fees for seniors age 65 and more

– Half off for transportation on St. Louis buses and trains for Medicare cardholders aged 65 and older

Montana

– Social Security for those with income less than $25,000, or $32,000 for married couples filing jointly is not taxed; up to $4,110 exemption of the pension income

– Seniors 65 and older get tuition exemptions through the Montana University System

– Free access and free or reduced camping fees at state parks

– Reduced hunting and fishing licenses for residents 62 and older

– Half off for land-use permits for residents 60 and older

– More than 50 percent discount for bus fare in Billings for residents aged 62 and older

Nebraska

– Social Security for seniors with adjusted joint income under $58,000, or $43,000 for individuals is not taxed

– Tuition exemptions for individual schools: one audited class at Chadron State College for residents 65 and older; 65% discount on for-credit classes at Mid-Plains Community College for residents 62 and older

– $5 annual fee for hunting-fishing licenses for residents 69 and older

– Low-cost bus rides in Lincoln for 62 and older; $3.50 door-to-door service for seniors with mobility problems
