When Family Becomes a Fraud

 Be careful: It is a common scam to pretend to be a grandchild who runs into some financial dilemmas while abroad and calls the “grandparents” to ask for their help. The seniors are asked not to tell the grandchild’s parents and to directly transfer money to a bail bondsman.

Dangers: The ones affected lose money and also important identity information.

What is being done: AARP helps seniors giving advice about how to avoid such scams.
