Florida is one of the preferred states when it comes to retirement due to its ideal weather and relatively convenient tax laws. Merritt Island, which is, in reality, a peninsula, is the perfect destination for the ones that enjoy connecting with nature. Although the overall home prices are higher than the national average, it is worth the splurge, as natural treasures, such as the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, public parks and rivers make up for the costs invested. Cape Canaveral, found across the Banana River, will certainly excite the ones passionate for wide spaces.
