Sure, you can get insurance on your own, once you’ve left the working field, but it can never out top the coverage plan provided by your employer, which is way better and cheaper. By working longer and delaying your retirement, you will be able to enjoy the perks of a more comprehensive and cost-efficient health insurance until you become eligible for Medicare coverage when you are 65 or older.
