25 US Cities With the Highest Percentages of Working Seniors

Austin, Texas

Seniors in the workforce: 22.8%

Senior population: 76,788

Not only is Austin in the 6th place with the highest number of working seniors, but the capital city of Texas has also managed to snatch a top position for being one of the cities where the senior workforce has significantly increased since 2009. According to Provision Living, there has been a 95 percent rise in Austin’s senior workforce in the last 10 years, ranking third among the cities in this category.

The overall number of seniors has also been growing over the past decade by about 53 percent. Austin offers a wide variety of job postings, such as business specialist, insurance claims adjuster, and loan closer.

Durham, North Carolina

Seniors in the workforce: 22.6%

Senior population: 27,781

Apart from ranking seventh on our list, Durham won the first place in Provision Living’s ranking, with an impressive 109% increase in senior workforce in the past 10 years. Seniors have also been growing in number, in general, by almost 46 percent in the same period of time. People aged 50 and older can choose from a wide range of work fields, including software development, sales, marketing, and security.

Dallas

Seniors in the workforce: 22.5%

Senior population: 127,622

People aged 50 and older who want to keep working have thousands of jobs to choose from in Dallas, among which sales territory manager, senior engineer, senior business consultant, and senior business analyst.

Nashville, Tennessee

Seniors in the workforce: 22.4%

Senior population: 73,240

Nashville is not only famous for its music scene but also for its variety of job postings for adults aged 50 and older. Seniors have plenty of trades to choose from, including project manager, superintendent, architect, and online sales agent.

Irving, Texas

Seniors in the workforce: 22.4%

Senior population: 17,417

Last but not least in our top 10 cities with the most seniors still in the workforce, Irving shows an impressive range of job opportunities, such as construction manager, internet analyst, and insurance claims adjuster. If you’re 50 or older and looking for a job, don’t hesitate to search in this lovely Texas city.
