10 Best Spots in the U.S. to Spend Your Retirement Years

March 18, 2020 · Retirement Life

Portland, Oregon

With a population of just over 650,000, Portland is the largest city in Oregon and has made it on our list as an ideal retirement spot for active retirees who enjoy outdoor activities. It has one of the largest urban parks in the country, namely Forest Park, an area of more than 5,200-acres and over 80 miles of endless trails, fire lanes and forest roads.

Known as “The City of Roses”, Portland also offers beautiful and unmatched gardens such as the International Rose Test Garden and the Portland Japanese Garden and promotes eco-friendly transportation options such as walking, biking and a public transportation system for retirees who prefer to move around without a car.

The city attracts adults over 50 who are looking for a bustling and diverse community. From the impressive Powell’s Books to the city’s unique coffee shops, doughnut shops and microbreweries, retirement life in Portland is far from being boring.
