13. Do Look for States That Protect Transfer of Assets Upon Death

Looking for a new home is hard enough as it is, and although this can be a sensitive subject, it’s important that all seniors consider what will happen to their assets once they’re no longer with us.

We say this because not all states have firm laws that protect the transfer of assets after death in place. Florida is one place where these laws are favorable (and hey, it’s also a no-income tax state!), but if you’re not a fan of Florida, it’s time to do some research into what works best for you.

We know, it’s a headache and at times difficult to even consider. However, if you’re adamant about where all your money, belongings and whatever you’ve amassed during your lifetime will go, this is a necessary and important step.
