Throwing out stuff recklessly

When you hit retirement age, as we said above, you might consider moving out to another city or just engage in an all-time spring cleaning. Before you rush into throwing out items in your home that might seem unnecessary, ask for a second opinion.

You might not believe it, but there are things worth keeping, like bookkeeping records or purchase-related records. You never know who might ask you for them, whether it’s your doctor, your dentist or your lawyer.

The same goes as well for tax records. Although the IRS usually has three years to initiate an audit, you might consider holding on to certain records.
