20 Life Lessons Millennials Can Learn From Seniors

March 13, 2020 · Retirement Life

Create a Purposeful Life Story

In his two successful books “30 Lessons for Living” and “30 Lessons for Loving”, Cornell University professor Dr. Karl Pillemer gathered the stories and advice of over 1,500 older Americans in hopes it would be useful to the younger generations. Maybe the most important thing to learn from all these stories is to “take time to craft the story of your life.” After all, it’s the journey that matters, not the destination.

Has it been purposeful? Can others learn from your experience? “[I]t’s important for older people to record their own thoughts and memories, but it’s really critical for younger people to ask them for them, and not just for stories, but for guidance and practical advice for living”, Pillemer concludes.
