11 Social Security Mistakes That Could Ruin Your Retirement

6. Losing your benefits by remarrying

The Social Security benefits divorced or widowed retirees received are based on their former spouse’s working history. Well, that won’t be the case anymore if they remarry, though there are some exceptions. For example, you could keep your survivor benefit only if you remarry after 60 but not before that. 

If you’re thinking of tying the knot again make sure you’re taking your Social Security into account and make the best decisions based on that.
