11 Social Security Mistakes That Could Ruin Your Retirement

9. Not claiming children’s benefits

If you’re receiving retirement or disability benefits through your Social Security and have children that are under 18, still in high school but are under 19 or that are disabled, your household could benefit from extra income. Social Security extends to them as well, though many believe that isn’t the case or simply overlook these details.
