April 13, 2020 · Saving & Spending

Cashing In Your Bonus Check

Who can resist splurging after getting a big bonus from work? Being compensated for your hard work might make you feel like you’ve earned the right to finally get your hands on that big-ticket item- and you’re right! You do have that right.

However, super savers will tell you that the best thing you can do with the money is to invest in your future. It might not be easy, but that’s why they also say you should start automating payments towards your retirement funds.

If you do that, it’ll feel less painful. By taking the decision making out of the equation you’ll have less time to think about all the things you could have gotten now.

Strategies like this could also help you if you’re having a hard time budgeting. By boosting your contributions with heaps of money in one go, you can relax your budgeting for a little while, just remember to not lose focus and don’t give it all up at once!
