3. Reverse mortgage payments

Since the federal agency considers reverse mortgage payments to be loan proceeds and not income, they simply aren’t taxable. And that’s true no matter what: if you get a line of credit, a monthly advance or even a lump sum. 

Even more, you could opt for all three and you won’t have to worry about taxes.
