17 Things to Do for a Healthy Retirement

April 13, 2020 · Saving & Spending

International Travel

Another common sacrifice supersavers make is not doing international travel. Plane tickets alone could cost you a small fortune and if your dream vacation is in an expensive tourist trap, you’re going to end up spending even more.

This doesn’t mean you should give up vacationing altogether. Everyone needs a break every once in a while. But cutting back is key. Saving $200 per month on travel will account for $2,400 per year and $60,000 in the next 25 years!

Instead, try to travel domestically and look for places near you that you could visit. A good strategy is to start by doing this, then increasing your reach every time a new opportunity to take a vacation comes up. That way you’ll still experience new things, but you won’t be paying an arm and a leg.
