The Worst 5 States for Seniors to Be Healthy

October 12, 2020 · Retirement Life

3. Louisiana

We know the food in Louisiana is irresistible… but it’s apparently also hard to come by for some adults. 22% of adults over the age of 60 live with food insecurities, meaning they don’t know where their next meal will come from. To put this into perspective, this is 3.7 times higher than in Colorado where food insecurity issues are virtually nonexistent.

The Pelican State also has an obesity problem. It ranked 49th in the nation with 34% of seniors being overweight. The disproportion between these two issues is quite concerning, so here’s to hoping that the state is doing something to try and fix them- sooner rather than later!

The next state is not so finger licking good…..

Some of the measures offered here are inconsequential. How many people smoke is no measure of whether you will smoke. The same is true of drinking alcohol or over-eating. What is critical is the quality of nursing homes or assisted living homes, quality and availability of medical facilities, affordability of being able to live there, crime rates (which are not addressed), availability of public transportation, senior recreational opportunities, etc. Many of these are simply not in this article. If they were, I think the scoring by state would be vastly different.

All 5 of those states are RED states. People who are easily influenced by lies and a party that is in a self-destruct mode!!
