The Worst 5 States for Seniors to Be Healthy

October 12, 2020 · Retirement Life

5. West Virginia

In terms of obesity, West Virginia is the 47th worst place in the nation with 34% of adults over the age of 65 and over being overweight. A further 30% of seniors have teeth extractions, the highest percentage in the U.S.

Sadly, 11% of adults smoke in the Mountain State, making it the 44th worst in the nation. This definitely factors in the number of early deaths. 2,354 out of every 100,000 between ages 65 and 75 die early, the most concerning number in the entirety of the U.S.

Surprisingly, West Virginians do not have an excessive drinking problem, as this only affects 3.6% of seniors. Hopefully, seniors will take more aspects of their health as seriously as they take alcohol usage.

Next, it may be the Sooner State, but healthwise we’d say see you later…..

Some of the measures offered here are inconsequential. How many people smoke is no measure of whether you will smoke. The same is true of drinking alcohol or over-eating. What is critical is the quality of nursing homes or assisted living homes, quality and availability of medical facilities, affordability of being able to live there, crime rates (which are not addressed), availability of public transportation, senior recreational opportunities, etc. Many of these are simply not in this article. If they were, I think the scoring by state would be vastly different.

All 5 of those states are RED states. People who are easily influenced by lies and a party that is in a self-destruct mode!!
