Connecticut, like most of the Northeastern part of the country, is a place where things don’t come cheap. Middletown is no different.

On the bright side, Middletown is part of the Hartford metro area, which makes it a little bit more affordable, compared to other important metro areas such as Stamford and New Haven. At least this is what the Council for Community and Economic Research revealed in their study.

Middleton residents apparently have high enough incomes to maintain a comfortable life. To get a better picture, the average income of Middletown households is $90,977 a year and things get even better when it comes to the elderly. People aged 60 and +60 enjoy an average income of $92,851 a year.

Moreover, Middletown is the hometown of the highly-rated Wesleyan University, thus providing all the gains and benefits of living your retirement years in a college town, such as restaurants, shops, and cultural attractions. If you enjoy educational activities, this small town is a great place for all community members to take no-credit courses, attend lectures and other activities with minimum fees to pay.

One of the downsides of Middletown is its neighbor city Hartford, where the crime rate is shockingly high – 1,093.8 violent crimes per 100,000 residents reported, more than double the national rate of 473.2 for similar size cities. When it comes to Middleton, there have been 49 total reported crimes in 2019.
