Be Careful! 5 Dangerous Scams Targeting Retirees

In order to save their loved ones for additional emotional and financial burdens, older Americans have recently taken to prearranging or prepaying their own funerals. You might think, rightly so, that the law regulating the funeral industries are strict. But they also vary by state, so some scammers might be able to get away with their plans unless you’re particularly careful.

In some cases, con artists have been known to list themselves as financial beneficiaries of certain individuals!

You can protect yourself by shopping around first and foremost. The more information you have the easier it’ll be to weed out those with harmful intentions. Then, make sure you carefully read all the contracts and purchasing agreements. Finally, make sure that cancellation terms are clearly spelled out on anything you might sign, just in case!
