How many seniors do you think can retire to the city of their dreams? When looking for a place to settle down during your golden years, it’s easy to get discouraged by exorbitant living costs. If this sounds familiar, don’t worry, you’re not alone.

Figuring out if a city is retirement friendly or unfriendly can be a huge challenge, but that’s why we’re here to help. We’ve looked at 20 places we think you should steer clear of, and 20 places you should definitely keep on your radar. We’ve compared house prices, tax laws, the cost of assisted living facilities and other things we know are important to our aging population so that you don’t have to.

Taking everything into account should give you an idea of whether or not you can afford the move- and if it’s worth it. All you’ll have to do next is make a decision and start packing your bags without fear that you’re heading somewhere you’ll be bombarded by unforeseen or steep costs.

Sometimes, no matter what sort of facilities and entertainment a city has to offer, seniors can’t bring themselves to settle down. Steering clear of the ridiculously high cost of living often means more money to spend on leisure, health care, and emergency savings- three things nobody should go without.

So while these destinations may seem perfect, we don’t think anyone should sacrifice their security in order to relocate here. And why should you even consider this option when there is a myriad of other cities and towns that offer similar services for just a fraction of the price?

    I can tell you first hand,Don’t move to Calif!!! I lived in Calif most of my life and in a couple months am going to retire and get out of Calif..too expensive,everything is taxed and housing prices are terrible.
