Amarillo, Texas 

Amarillo gets a high ranking for livability, thanks to its low cost of living. Seniors can easily live for 21.1 years with $850K. Amarillo is set in the middle of the rugged plains of the Texas Panhandle, and it’s a truly “cow town” of cowboys and ranch life.

Of course, there’s some glory left from the old days when it was a watering hole on the legendary Route 66. But today, the area is full of accessible modern transportation. These upgrades have encouraged population growth and buildup of the downtown area, and there are a few attractions that are worth the effort, such as steakhouses and a few museums and historic sites.
