12 Best Countries To Live Perfectly Well on Social Security Alone

June 7, 2021 · Retirement Life

Italy

From a relaxed lifestyle to the Mediterranean climate and large expat communities, Italy is one of the best places for retirement. It’s true that not all regions are affordable for retirees relying on Social Security alone, but those that tick this box, such as the city of Modena, are more than worth it.

“This city is one of the most underrated in Italy — a well-to-do city without being stuffy or over-priced,” says Valerie Schneider, International Living’s Italy correspondent. Whether it’s the incredible wine culture or the charming pastel buildings and cozy vibe, this small city can offer you the retirement life of your dreams. Not to mention life’s much cheaper than in the United States, with a retired couple spending around $1,617 per month on living costs, including rental costs.

I did not see the English speaking country of The Philippines on this list.
I believe that the islands of paradise beat most of the countries on this list, hands down.
