 Be careful: Notorious scams, such as Pyramid, Ponzi, the ‘419’ fraud, are part of this category. For instance, in the case of the 419 scheme, a foreigner who pretends to be in the possession of a great amount of money asks for financial and personal information in order to “share” his wealth. Advance-fee schemes are those which may fool you into buying a product or service in exchange for a finder’s fee.

Dangers: The faster you pay the fee, the quicker the scammer runs aways… sometimes with your identity too!
