Where should I keep my will?

The original document of your will should be kept in a safe and accessible place as it will very likely be required by probate court. Most people chose to store them in fire and waterproof safes, preferably in their homes. If you put your will in a safety deposit box, your family would need to seek a court order in order to retrieve it from the bank.

Naturally, you should also have signed copies on hand. Your attorney should keep them as they can establish your intentions in case the original documents are lost or destroyed. That being said, keep in mind that these signed copies cannot guarantee that your wishes will be followed.
