11 Ways to Improve Your Finances Before You Retire

April 8, 2021 · Personal finance

Give Your Savings a Checkup

With the first two steps out of the way, it’s time to check on your actual retirement savings. Remember, this number could be higher or lower depending on your saving practices before now and on the plans for retirement that you made when you first started putting money away.

If you need help running the numbers, a financial adviser can help you, so don’t hesitate to contact one! You could even attend a retirement planning seminar, just be wary of new businesses trying to sell you financial products that are too complex for you to comprehend and that you don’t even need.

Finally, there are online calculators you can use, just input your current balance for all your retirement savings and how much you’re still putting aside. These should give you a good idea of how much you’ll have by the time you leave the workforce.
